About the 2024 Color of the Year: Peach Fuzz

Pantone announced the color of the year as PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz. It’s a warm peach tone that blends soft pink and orange hues. Leatrice Eiseman Executive Director at the Pantone Color Institute quotes, “In seeking a hue that echoes our innate yearning for closeness and connection, we chose a color radiant with warmth and modern elegance. A shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace, and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless.” When deciding the color of the year, this color must have a representation beyond just the aesthetics and certainly beyond the trends within a certain region. The color is meant to serve as an expression of a mood and attitude that will resonate around the world. It’s important to note that the color of the year isn’t intended to be a trend but rather a lifestyle perspective. If this color speaks to you where you are in your life at this time of your life, then there is longevity in how this color can be used in design. Pantone emphasizes that the color of the year is a global reflection intended to further connect us. The Land Design by Armstrong team is excited for the 2024 color of the year. After many cooled tone colors like blues and purples, it’s refreshing to see the warmth of Peach Fuzz. There already has been an increase in warm tones, even in modern design. From subtle colors in paving stones to an increase in warm-toned decking materials.

 The Impact on Landscape Design

The warmth of Peach Fuzz already exists in some home types, but the design type that may be surprising is the modern realm. Many modern homes in Salt Lake City embody a strong contrast of shades of black, white, and grey. This soft warm tone of orange and pink may appeal to the bohemia or ranch-style homes that are already embracing color. The Land Design by Armstrong team predicts there will be an increase on light orange roses or outdoor dinnerware. Which, could easily make its way to the modern home-owner and their outdoor living space. A color swatch can be purchased on the Pantone website. Homes in Park City embody a very earth-toned palete to stay as true to the natural landscape of the surrounding mountains. Land Design by Armstrong serves both Salt Lake City and Park City and while there is a commonality in upscale outdoor living spaces across the two cities, the home design and environmental landscape changes drastically. Peach Fuzz draws in sunset tones that naturally compliment earth tones in a way that’s not already being implemented. Oftentimes we think Earth tones in an upscale design with pine green, oak, cream with touches of blue from a pool or other water feature but one of the core times of enjoying your outdoor living space is during sunset. Peach Fuzz in a landscape design is only going to amplify the natural oranges in the sky when you are enjoying dinner at sunset in our luxury backyard.

How to Get Started with a Fresh Landscape Design for 2024

Our team of landscape designers will first schedule an onsite consultation to evaluate your space. This will allow them to not only hear your vison but also take their environmental science expertise into account. If you want to add a pergola decorated in peach fuzz furniture, they will know the best placement for the sun. If you want to add a bed of peach fuzz rose bushes, they will know where to plant them for longevity. Maybe the color of the year inspires you for a fresh outdoor space as a whole and your dream outdoor oasis comes to life with water features, a patio and outdoor kitchen. The new year is the best time to start a landscape design project if you want to start construction in the spring of 2024 or 2025.
